The Tree of Freedom

The Tree of Freedom (a micoucoulier), planted on the occasion of the bicentennial of the French Revolution in 1989, initiative of Paul Molinier (Mayor from 1971-2001) and of its Municipal Council is situated in "La Mounette" housing estate.

In 1989, the bicentennial of the French Revolution brought many events. Among the themes chosen for this commemoration, one of the most common was the planting of a Tree of Freedom.
The mission of the bicentennial of the French Revolution and the Declaration of the rights of man and of the citizen was indeed fixed on March 21st, 1989 – 1st germinal, on spring day - national day where a tree of the same specie in all the communes of France to mark the attachment to the values of freedom.

The mission sent to the 36 000 mayors of France a grant to help them, as appropriate, to acquire this tree.
